הצטרפתי לתכנית ללימודי תרבות ולמחלקה לתקשורת ועיתונאות בשנת 2020. מחקריי בוחנים את הקשר שבין טכנולוגיות מדיה, שפה, תרבות וחברה. בעבודת הדוקטורט התמקדתי בתפקיד שהיה לטכנולוגיות מדיה כגון הקלטות פונוגרף וגרמופון, מכונת הכתיבה הטלגרף והמחשבים הראשונים, בחידוש השפה העברית ועיצובה. מחקרי האחרים בוחנים טכנולוגיות עכשוויות כגון אלגוריתמים של עיבוד שפה טבעית ותרגום אוטומטי, וכן את הקשר בין גוף האדם וטכנולוגיות תקשורת כגון הקלדה בעזרת אגודלים במקלדות וירטואליות בסמארטפונים.

I joined the program in Cultural Studies and the department of Communication and Journalism in 2020.  My research focuses on the link between media technologies, language, culture, and society. Combining cultural critique with historical and theoretical analysis, I explore how language and media influence ideological, political, economic and cultural processes such as the construction of linguistic and national identity. My PhD dissertation, “Lingua ex Machina: Media Archaeology of Hebrew Inscribing Machines” (Hebrew University of Jerusalem) explored the role media had in shaping the revitalization and modernization of Modern Hebrew since the end of the 19th century, focusing on technologies such as phonograph records, typewriters, the telegraph and later on computers. In other research projects I explore contemporary human-machine interfaces such as thumb typing on virtual keyboards or Machine Translation platforms.
